Since going down 0-3 in the ECHL Eastern Conference finals against the South Carolina Stingrays it’s been win or go home for the Toledo Walleye. For their last game in Charleston however, it was also “win and go home.”
By winning on Saturday night the Walleye could extend their season at least one more game and bring the series back to the friendly confines of the Huntington Center.
With Jeff Lerg out another game with an injury, Neil Conway got the start in the net for the Walleye.
Martin Frk put the Walleye ahead in the 1st period after an assist from Justin Mercier.
After going down 2-1 in the 2nd, Shane Bershbach got a goal to tie it at 2.
It didn’t look good for the Fish after that however as the Stingrays went ahead 4-2 by the end of the 2nd period.
Unwilling to let their season end however, the Walleye managed to tie it up and send the game to overtime.
Again it was Martin Frk with his third goal of the night who was able to seal the deal for the Fish and send the series back to Toledo.
Game 6 will be Tuesday at 7:35 at the Huntington Center.
